Why is it not being released on old-gen consoles?
Simply put, Grand Theft Auto 6 is simply going to be too big and too graphically intense for the Xbox One or PS4 to handle. For example, consider the map: GTA 5’s San Andreas map was 29.2 square miles. According to leaks, GTA 6’s version ofVice Cityand the surrounding areas measures in at a whopping 48.2 square miles – almost double the size.
Then you have to consider the graphics too. Looking at thetrailer, it’s almost impossible to tell if you’re looking at real footage or a video game at times. It should come as no surprise then that you will need powerful hardware to play it, and consoles that were released 11 years ago just don’t cut the mustard.

Truthfully, the PS4 and Xbox One are already struggling to deal with GTA 5, never mind the next installment of the franchise. In fact, things were getting so bad that Rockstar had to remove existing features like the Rockstar Editor just to keep the game running.
So, with all that in mind, it’s no surprise that GTA 6 isn’t coming to PS4 and Xbox One, even if it’s sad to see those consoles left behind.
