Twitch reveals major change to make streams a lot more like TikTok
Twitch CEO Dan Clancy has revealed a list of things he wants to do for Twitch in 2025, and one focus is improving the mobile viewing experience.
Twitch launched its new mobile app experience back in August 2024, which features a TikTok-like vertical feed full of clips and streams from people you follow.

Users quickly called for it to bechanged back to the previous design, with many across social media calling the update “garbage.”
On August 20, 2025, CEO Dan Clancy revealed that Twitch is launching a new feature for the mobile app that lets creators stream vertically.

Twitch set to launch vertical streaming
In an open letter posted on Twitch’s blog, Clancy said they want to “help viewers quickly find content to watch” while still helping streamers grow their communities through the Discovery and Clips feeds on the mobile app.
To help that happen, Twitch says they’re going to add the ability for streamers to provide both landscape and vertical video – with the latter being shown through the Discovery feed.

“In the middle of the year, we will be adding the ability to provide both landscape and vertical video through Enhanced Broadcasting and will integrate the vertical video source into the mobile app depending upon the orientation of the phone,” it reads.
They’re working on improving the quality of the feed as well, as they’re working on ways to reduce the time it takes to load content and to improve the quality of streams on the Discovery feed.
