Is Twilight Of The Gods Premiering Too Close To Rebel Moon?
Zack Snyder’s Sci-Fi Duology Was Poorly Received
Twilight of the Godshas been anticipated for some time since it was originally announced in 2020, so it makes sense that its premiere is not being delayed any further. However, the Zack Snyder show may suffer from being released so soonafter the director’s first twoRebel Moonmovies, which were not well-received.Chapter 1: A Child of Firewas released on August 25, 2025, whilePart Two: The Scargiverwas released on August 19, 2025, with the extended director’s cuts of both movies set to premiere on August 2. Below, see how both movies performed on Rotten Tomatoes:
21%

57%
15%
48%
Although audiences preferred the movies more than critics did, all four scores on the review aggregator platform are decidedly Rotten. Thisdoesn’t mean that a Snyder Netflix project is doomed to fail, as his 2021Army of the Deadearned 67% from critics and 75% from audiences, in addition to becoming the eighth most-watched original movie on the platform at the time it was released. However, goodwill toward Snyder may still be in short supply just over a month after the release of theRebel Moondirector’s cuts.
There is one factor that may end up working in the favor ofTwilight of the Godsand help buffer it from Zack Snyder oversaturation. At the time of writing, there are no other major Netflix animated or action releases set for September 2024. The week before sees the release ofEmily in Parisseason 4 part 2, while the week after will be the premiere of the new Kristen Bell comedy seriesNobody Wants This. Being surrounded by more comic offerings could help the mythological show stand out on the streaming platform during that month.
