With production still underway on the final season of the Netflix show, Paul Walter Hauser addresses whether he will return as Stingray forCobra Kaiseason 6. Hauser first joined the cast of theKarate Kidsequel show in season 2, enrolling in the titular dojo under Johnny Lawrence’s tutelage before being manipulated and warped by Terry Silver and John Kreese’s teachings in later seasons. Stingray’s Farewell Is Promising For All Cobra Kai Characters
With a roster of over a dozen main characters, Stingray getting a farewell in season 6 also proves theCobra Kaiteam are dedicated to closing the show off in a meaningful fashion.
Though Silver’s arrest and the disbanding of the dojo at the end of season 5 would’ve made it understandable for Hauser to not return forCobra Kaiseason 6’s cast, there is one major reason why Stingray needs to return, that being Kreese’s mysterious plan for revenge. Stingray was ultimately the reason Johnny’s former sensei went to prison in the first place, having conspired with Silver to frame his assault of Stingray on Kreese. With Kreese now having faked his murder to escape prison, Stingray is sure to be one of his targets for whatever he is planning.
Another major reason why Stingray’s return forCobra Kaiseason 6 is a good sign is he could finally get the opportunity to compete in a tournament for his dojo. Though being part of the titular dojo in season 2, his involvement in the brutal West Valley High brawl saw him arrested and put on probation, preventing him from taking part in competitions, particularly after he was banned by Kreese the following season. It’s still unclear how Johnny and Danny will merge their dojos to compete in season 6’s Sekai Taikai, but with Stingray having made an effort to redeem himself in their eyes, he could finally get the chance to prove himself.
