What To Expect From Starfield’s Shattered Space DLC & Update

New Story, New Planets, & Custom Content

Shattered Spacebrings a horrifying new chapter toStarfield. It begins with the player investigating a distress signal from an otherwise unheard-of space station. Once there, they begin receiving mysterious telepathic messages from an entity claiming to work on behalf of The Serpent. It instructs them to “Save Anasko” and “restore the Citadel.“The player will travel to new worlds, restore lost Va’ruunian technology, and learn a great deal more about the religion’s origins and role in the wider galaxy.

These details suggestShattered Spaceis themed around HouseVa’ruun, one ofStarfield’s optional religionsthat doesn’t have much of a presence in the base game. Anasko is one of its early rulers, who lived and operated out of a place called the Scaled Citadel. House Va’ruun also worships a deity called the Great Serpent, believed to be the universe’s creator and eventual destroyer.

As for theStarfieldupdate, it seems to center on the Tracker’s Alliance, a bounty-hunting faction already found throughout the Settled Systems. It’ll offer the player character new work, which will take them to “new environments” in pursuit of new bounties, which will reward them with new gear.

TheStarfieldupdate finally introduces a long-awaited Bethesda staple: the Creation Club. This allows players to download player- and developer-made custom content from an in-game marketplace. This should helpexpand theStarfieldmodding scene, by providing console players with access to custom content, and players everywhere with an easy, official way to download it. Bethesda’s Creation Clubs have been criticized in the past for their use of microtransactions, and this one appears to be no exception: players will need to purchase virtual currency in order to download items from the Creation Club.

That’s everything to know about newStarfieldcontent for now - players will likely discover a lot more once the update is available later tonight. There’ll be a bit of a longer wait for the DLC, but it’s expected to be out by the end of the year. More information onStarfield’s upcoming DLC will likely be revealed closer to launch.

Starfield

Bethesda Game Studios presents Starfield - the first original IP from the studio in twenty-five-plus years. Set in the year 2310, the United Colonies and Freestar Collective are observing a shaky truce after a war set 20 years prior. The player will customize their character as a member of a space exploration team called Constellation while navigating The Settled Systems and the conflicts between the warring factions. According to Bethesda, players can explore over 100 systems and 1000 planets to find resources and build their ships, living out their own sci-fi journeys.
