The origins of the Skull Kid are not withinnotoriously darkMajora’s Mask, but inOcarina of Time.Link meets this version of Skull Kid in the Lost Woodsand can play Saria’s Song to befriend him. The two N64 games used many of the same assets, and thus, the character was transported to the second title, where he became the main antagonist. A key thing to note about the second version of the Skull Kid is that he wasn’t evil, just mischievous. It was because of his nature that led to him robbing the Happy Mask Salesman.
His only two friends in the world before getting the mask were the fairies Tatl and Tael.This was due to how he was once friends with the giants of therealm of Termina, who soon went dormant to ensure they could forever protect the land. Skull Kid rebelled after their departure, and they threatened him should he cause more trouble. However, once the Skull Kid got Majora’s mask, he sealed the giants away and threatened to destroy Termina through his newfound power. Link had to free the giants and defeat the spirit of Majora to free the Skull Kid.

Once freed and Termina saved, the Skull Kid apologizes to Link and the giants for what he did, and the giants assure him that they are all still friends.The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Maskwas a hit on the Nintendo 64 and was later ported to the Nintendo 3DS.
