Seafood restaurant “pardons” & frees 110-year-old lobster that lived in tank for years
A New York seafood restaurant has freed a 110-year-old lobster that had been living in a tank at the location for years.
A seafoodrestaurantmay be an unlikely place to find a pet, but that’s exactly what happened with a 110-year-old 21-pound lobster who showed up at Peter’s Clam Bar years ago.
According to the restaurant’s owner, Butch Yamali, the lobster, who has been named Lorenzo, “slipped through the cracks and ended up in our tank for years.”
“He became like a pet. People would come see him and take pictures with him, and he was just an object of the store,” Yamali explained.
However, in celebration of National Lobster Day, Yamali decided it was time to part ways with his pet and made a huge ordeal out of releasing Lorenzo back into the sea.

As reported byUBI, Hempstead Town Supervisor Don Clavin and Nassau County Legislator John Ferretti showed up at Peter’s Clam Bar to “pardon” the lobster.
“Some of these lobsters just don’t live that long, and this one did. So we figured what better way to celebrate Father’s Day than by freeing Lorenzo,” Yamali said.
“He’s gonna be missed, but I think it’s better like this. If he passed away here, it wouldn’t be a good thing, and I couldn’t have the heart tosell him.”
In a post onFacebook, Peter’s Clam Bar shared photos of the event, joking that Lorenzo is living his best life—clawing his way to freedom and soaking up the salty breeze (instead of butter).”
