Summary
While Ben Affleck did a great job asBatmanin the old DCEU, I think the newDC Universecan bring an even better version of Batman to life by making a key change to how the character is portrayed. Despite never getting a solo film due to complex behind-the-scenes issues,Affleck still managed to deliver mostly gripping performances as Batman in the DCEU. His last turn in the role inThe Flashcemented Affleck as one of the finestlive-action Batman actors.
The Flashmight have had its problems, but I don’t think any of the movie’s issues were related to its multiple Batmen. In fact, the different versions of Batman were handled pretty well in different ways, which makes me all the more excited for theDCU’sThe Brave and the Bold— Batman’s reboot movie. After all,The Flashdirector Andy Muschietti has been confirmed to helm the DCU’s Batman film, and if the director were to make a simple change to Batman, then I think we could finally have the ideal live-action version of the character.

10 Batman Movie Rumors Debunked By James Gunn
With a Batman reboot film for the new DCU and Robert Pattinson’s The Batman - Part II on the way, James Gunn has debunked several movie rumors.
I Don’t Think A Younger Batman Works With The Bat-Family
Batman Needs To Be Older Again
Muschietti excelled at making Affleck and Keaton’s versions of Batman feel like they were ripped straight out of the comics based on their dialogue and kinetic action sequences. That will be perfect for the DCU, which Gunn has said will be more closely tied to DC Comics than the previous DCEU was. That can already be seen in the description forThe Brave and the Bold, asthe movie will feature the live-action debut of Bruce Wayne’s biological son, Damian.
AsDamian Wayne is Batman’s fourth male Robin, and Gunn has confirmed thatother members of the Bat-Family will appear inThe Brave and the Bold, it would not make sense for Batman to be played by a young actor. Like Affleck’s case, I believe that Bruce Wayne should be in his 40s in the DCU — late 30s at most — as that would be the most believable for a Batman who already has his whole Bat-Family established. An older Batman would also mean the DCU would not need to make changes to the Bat-Family’s timeline from the comics.

I Want The DCU Batman To Be “Warmer” Than Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne
The Comics Show How That Could Happen
While I want the DCU to use an older Batman, that doesn’t mean that he would also need to be a disillusioned version of the hero like Affleck’s was. Instead of being closed off emotionally, the DCU’s Batman should have a more gentle connection to the Bat-Family. Batman can still be a formidable hero who violently fights villains while also showing that he is a loving father and/or mentor to the members of the Bat-Family.DC Comics writer Tom King handled that well in the comics, and with him in the DCU, perhaps myBatmanwish could come true.
The Brave and the Bold
The Brave and the Bold will introduce audiences to a new Batman in the DC Universe, focusing on the unique dynamic between the Dark Knight and his son, Damian Wayne, who takes on the mantle of Robin. This film marks yet another reboot for the iconic vigilante superhero.
