Summary
The date of the nextNintendo Directhas been guessed by many, but it may have been leaked by accident because of a trailer for an upcomingAmong Ustrailer. While this has not been confirmed by either Nintendo nor Innersloth,Among Us' developer, speculation is building that this could either be true or point to a Direct coming much later in the month.
The trailer fromAmong Usdeveloper Innersloth appears to have been mistakenly uploaded prematurely byGameSpot. The video has since been removed, but not before the story was picked up elsewhere, and social media leakers likeLizardyon X (formerly Twitter) posted about it. TheAmong Ustrailer reveals that the game’s next update will come June 18, and speculation points to this being shadow dropped during the June 2024 Nintendo Direct.

The trailer that was taken down showed off three new characters that people could play as via a June 18 update, including Noisemaker, Tracker, and Phantom. In the past,Among Ushas made big announcements via Nintendo Directs. Plus, Innersloth was at the Summer Game Fest opening livestream and didn’t reveal this.
Among Us Could Point To The Next Nintendo Direct
Its True Date, & What Will Be Shown In It, Remains A Mystery
The trailer being almost immediately taken down further highlights thatthis trailer might be meant for something more. After all, if it was meant to be a standalone trailer, there’s very little harm in it accidentally dropping early. All this leak does is further highlight how Nintendo hasn’t announced the date for its next Direct. Speculation, rumors, and leaks have abounded about this Direct for the last month, including that the upcoming presentation might beone of the best the company has donein the Switch era. However, until the Direct comes, that’s just a guess.
The latest guesses about theair date for the Nintendo Directplace it sometime either next week or the week after. Critics might question that given that this was a big week in the gaming space between the Summer Game Fest, Xbox Games Showcase, and the Ubisoft Forward events that took place over the last several days.Having a Nintendo Direct be the capstone on such a gaming week would have been interestingand kept giving the community something to talk about. Nintendo has largely abandoned E3 and its de facto replacement, Summer Game Fest, in recent years, however.

To that end, much speculation exists about thegames that will be shown in the Nintendo Direct. Regardless of whetherAmong Usis there for its newest update, there is hope that Nintendo will bring some big first- and third-party titles to the Switch over the course of the fiscal year so that it can go out with prestige before passing the torch to the next console. Only time will tell if theNintendo Directfulfills that hope.
