I Am Legend 2has received an optimistic update from star Michael B. Jordan. Loosely based on author Richard Matheson’s 1954 novel of the same name, the originalI Am Legend,which was released in 2007, stars Will Smith as Robert Neville, the last surviving human in New York City following a virus outbreak that wipes out most of mankind. The post-apocalyptic thriller was a huge commercial success and in 2022 it was confirmed thatI Am Legend 2starring Jordanwas in development.
Now, in an interview withPeople, Jordan revealed thatthe script is still being worked on, and they’re hoping to get it up to par soon enough. We’re still working on the script and getting that up to par. It doesn’t have a release date or anything like that. I’m not sure exactly where we’re going to be filming that one, but I’m really excited to get in front of the camera with him. Being somebody that I’ve looked up to for a really long time, to be able to work with Will is something I’m really looking forward to. I’m really excited.

I Am Legend 2 Is Taking A Unique Path In Following Up On The First Movie’s Ending
For many years, it seemed unlikely that this famous post-apocalyptic thriller was going to get a sequel for several reasons.Smith’s Robert Neville died in the original movie, seemingly giving the story a definitive ending. This, coupled with the fact that throughout his illustrious career,Smith rarely returns for sequels, the chances ofI Am Legend 2coming to fruition seemed slim. Despite the lead character dying,the sequel will follow the alternate ending that was released on the DVD where Neville survives.
I Am Legend 2 Using The Alternate Ending Is Good - But There’s 1 Problem
I Am Legend 2 will follow the original movie’s alternate ending instead of the controversial theatrical one. However, this presents a major problem.
This was, however, until 2022, when Smith had a change of heart after he heard the idea for the new film. Alongside Smith, who decided to return, it was also confirmed that Jordan will be joining the cast of the forthcoming sequel, even though the role he will be playing is yet to be revealed. While no other cast member has been confirmed at the time of writing,Alice Braga, who played Anna in the original movie, revealed in an interview that she would be very open to returning toI Am Legend’s sequel.
There’s still a lot unknown about the forthcoming sequel, but there’s a lot to be optimistic about and viewers will be hoping that this sequel can deliver just as well as its predecessor did.
In regard to the story details forI Am Legend 2, Akiva Goldsman, the screenwriter for the original movie who is also returning to pen the sequel, revealed in an interview last year thatthe sequel would start a few decades later than the first while also adding that the movie would take inspiration fromHBO’sThe Last Of Us.
