The world of The Boys has expanded with spinoff Gen V, and here’s everything we know about season 2 and Amazon Prime Video’s return to Godolkin.
9Vought Was Secretly Working On A Supe-Killing Virus
It Will Be A Huge Part Of Season 4
ThroughoutGen V, Marie and the rest of the gang slowly learn that there is a massive conspiracy at Godolkin, one that leads back to the school’s corporate owner, Vought International. The characters first discover thatGodolkin University contains The Woods, a secret underground laboratory that houses supes who are experimented on by Vought, such as Sam.
While the purpose of The Woods is a mystery for most ofGen V, it is eventually learned thatit is being used to develop a virus that can infect supes. Originally, Vought planned on using the virus to turn supes into mindless zombies who are under their control. However, Dean Shetty secretly turned the virus into something that is capable of killing supes. The dangerous supe virus can infect almost any supe, and now everyThe Boyscharacter is fighting to get it.

8Godolkin Dean Shetty Was Killed At The End Of Gen V
Her Death Changes Everything
Dean Shetty was one of the main antagonists ofGen V, with her being the Dean of Godolkin University. Her shady past and connection to Homelander’s story fromThe Boysseason 1 were slowly revealed throughout the show, causing viewers to realize that she was actually working against Vought. As it turns out, Shetty was attempting to kill supes like Homelander with a virus, with this being her master plan.
However,Cate and some of the other Godolkin students confront Shetty at the end ofGen V. Cate disagrees with Shetty’s development of the virus, knowing that it will also kill supes like her. After Shetty’s confrontation with Cate, Shetty is killed by having her throat slit, putting an end to the character’s time inThe Boysuniverse. Now, the chair of dean at Godolkin is empty and a major piece of the virus puzzle is missing, potentially having an impact onThe Boysseason 4.

7Homelander & Ashley Were At The Godolkin University Riot
They Know What Really Happened
At theend ofGen V, a massive riot takes place at Godolkin University, with the former prisoners of the Woods joining other supe supremacists as they massacre unfortunate souls who happen to be at Godolkin. Marie and some of the other supes attempt to fight back, trying to put a stop to Cate and Sam’s army of supes. Meanwhile, Ashley Barrett just happens to be on campus, with her discussing future members of The Seven before her life is endangered by the riot.
Marie thinks that the tide has turned in her favor for a brief second due to the arrival of a powerful supe: Homelander. However,Marie quickly realizes that Homelander is a supe supremacistas well, with him actually being on the side of Cate and Sam. This means that both Homelander and Ashley were witnesses of the events of the riot, something that they could discuss inThe Boysseason 4.
6Vought Has Framed The Guardians For The Riots (& Claim That Cate & Sam Are The Heroes)
Vought Has Covered The Riots Up
Due to the mass death and destruction of the Godolkin University riots, a lot of eyes were on the school. Vought obviously didn’t want the world to know what really happened, as it would involve revealing details of the classified experiments at The Woods. Instead,Vought spins the situation into a web of lies, claiming thatMarie and the Guardians of Godolkinare the ones behind the riots.
On top of that, Vought also frames the true villains ofGen Vas the heroes, claiming that Cate and Sam are the ones who put a stop to the riot. According to Vought, the duo fought alongside Homelander to stop Marie and her army of rogue supes, with the public seemingly buying this narrative. This means that most of the characters inThe Boysseason 4 won’t know what really happened at Godolkin, with a few exceptions.
5Cate & Sam Were Recruited By Vought - What Their Powers Are
They May Join The Seven
After the events of theGen Vseason 1 finale, Vought knew that they had to do something about Cate and Sam. Since Cate and Sam were framed as the heroes of the riots at Godolkin University, Vought decided to take a drastic step and recruit the duo, with them beingpotential candidates for membership in The Seven inThe Boysseason 4.
Both Cate and Sam are incredibly powerful, and here is what they can do. Cate Dunlap is a powerful telepath who is able to control the minds of people who she comes into contact with. ThroughoutGen V, Cate takes power-suppressing pills, meaning that the full extent of her abilities may still not be known. Sam Riordan’s powers are a bit more mysterious. It is known that he has superhuman strength and durability, although it isn’t known if the psychological effects seen throughout the show have anything to do with his powers.
4Victoria Neuman Has The Supe Virus
Could She Use It In Season 4?
In the last few episodes ofGen V, the development of the supe virus story caused a lot of things to happen, with many wondering what happened to it. As it turns out,Victoria Neuman is the one with the supe virus. At theend ofGen Vepisode 7, Neuman secretly gets the last remaining sample of the supe virus from Dr. Cardosa before popping his head, meaning that she is also the only one who knows that she has the virus.
It seems likely that Neuman is simply holding onto the virus for safekeeping inThe Boysseason 4, as it would also kill her due to her being a supe. However, she could also be keeping it in case a nuclear option is needed in her conflicts with Homelander, as she knows that it is the only thing that can kill Vought’s most powerful supe.
3Billy Butcher Was Investigating Gen V’s Killer Virus
He May Find It Soon
Although Victoria Neuman is the one who has the supe virus in her hands, she isn’t the only one who wants it. In fact,Gen Vends with a cameo from Billy Butcher, showing that he is hot on her trail. Billy Butcher’s appearance in the series shows the leader of The Boys looking through the remnants of the Woods facility, hoping to find a sample of the virus.
Billy Butcher doesn’t seem successful in locating the virus, but his appearance highlights that he wants it. Thus,The Boysseason 4 will most likely heavily focus on Billy Butcher’s hunt for the supe virus, with it being a major reason why he could want to find and kill Victoria Neuman. If Butcher gets his hands on the virus, he will undoubtedly use it, with it being one of the only ways to kill Homelander.
2The Rest Of Gen V’s Cast Is Being Held In A Secret Prison
Could The Boys Resue Them?
While a lot happened at the end ofGen V, with Vought seriously shaking up the world ofThe Boys, there are still a lot of questions regarding what happened to the rest of the show’s main characters. As it turns out, the four main heroes fromGen Vwere knocked out by Homelander during the riots at Godolkin, with them waking up in a prison cell.
The white cell is unlike any prison that the characters have seen before, with it seemingly having no exits. While the Guardians of Godolkin’s new prison is undoubtedly run by Vought, very little is known about it. The characters don’t know where this secret prison is or how long they have been in it, meaning that they most likely won’t appear in the events ofThe Boysseason 4.
Gen V Season 2 Is Losing The One Thing That Made The Boys' College Spinoff Work
The Boys' spinoff show worked well for several reasons, but there was a great facet of Gen V season 1 that looks like it’ll be missing from season 2.
1Gen V Introduced Tek-Knight
He Could Reappear In Season 4
While the riots at Godolkin and the rest ofGen V’s ending contain most of the important setups forThe Boysseason 4, the spinoff series also introduced a major character to Amazon’sThe Boysuniverse.Tek Knight makes his debut inGen V, and while he doesn’t play a major role in the episode in which he appears, he is a significant addition to the franchise due to him being a preexisting character from the comics.
Although nothing has been confirmed, it is possible thatTek Knight could reappear inThe Boysseason 4 after hisGen Vdebut. It would make sense to bring the important character back after his small role inGen V, so it is good to remember that the spinoff saw Dean Shetty get blackmail on Tek Knight. Now that Shetty is dead, however, Tek Knight has nothing holding him back from hisGen Vplans and his further appearance inThe Boysseason 4.
