Black Ops 6’s best gun handed major nerf in Season 3 Reloaded

Black Ops 6 Season 3 Reloaded brought plenty of weapon balancing changes, and multiplayer’s best weapon has been hit with a substantial nerf in an effort to make matches more balanced.

Themeta in BO6has been fiercely competitive since the start of Season 3, thanks in no small part to the classic weapons that were introduced. Old favorites like theCR-56 AMAXandKilo 141became contenders right away, proving competition to theKrig CandModel L.

But the Grau 5.56 stood above all the rest, after being added as a conversion to the SWAT 5.56 Marksman Rifle. The iconic AR was comfortably the best gun in the game, appearing in virtually every match.

Now, with theSeason 3 Reloaded update, Treyarch have released amajor nerfto try and end its dominance.

Grau 5.56 hit with big nerf in BO6 Season 3 Reloaded update

As outlined in thepatch notes, going forward, the Grau will have reduced its maximum damage to 24 at long range, down from 28. This may not seem like much on paper, but it significantly reduces the TTK when hitting body shots.

The devs explained their reasoning behind the change, writing:

“The Grau Conversion for the Swat 5.56 has been performing significantly ahead of other weapons in Multiplayer. We want to preserve the gameplay feel of this weapon conversion as much as possible, so for now we will be reducing its Max Damage to slow down the base TTK in the Max Damage Range.”

It’s not all bad news, though, as players can still achieve a similar time to kill as before the nerf, as long as they’re accurate with their shots.

If you land just one headshot, the TTK will go back to the old value no matter what other combination you hit.

So, while this change will make the Grau less dominant and effective in the hands of the average player, those who can perform headshots consistently won’t notice too much of a difference.

With this in mind, we expect it to remain a top-tierAssault Rifle in Black Ops 6, especially in high-skill lobbies. But this higher skill ceiling means it’s unlikely to be the undisputed king, opening the door for rivals like theXM4andCypher 091.
