When asked byDeadlinewhether Moff Gideon could make a return inThe Mandalorian & Groguor not, Esposito responds with “anything is possible.” He goes on to admit that he doesn’t “know anything about that at present,” but insists with wholehearted enthusiasm that"if they need me, I’ll be there.“Esposito offers praise forThe Mandalorianshowrunners Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni before finishing with the hopeful sentiment that"there may be a moment where I can swoop down and take over once again.”

It May Be Time For The Mandalorian To Move Past Him
Moff Gideon
An important and influential member of the Imperial Shadow Council, Moff Gideon was personally responsible for the Purge of Mandalore. Moff Gideon deliberately seeded reports Mandalore was uninhabitable, secretly claiming the world and beginning efforts to extract its precious beskar. Moff Gideon’s ambitious attempts to clone herself were disrupted by Din Djarin, and he died when the Mandalorians retook their homeworld.
While it may seem impossible for Gideon to return after his fate inThe Mandalorianseason 3’s ending,Star Warsis no stranger to surprise resurrections, especially with villains. Both Darth Maul andAsajj Ventresshave been able to return to the galaxy after what seemed to be quite permanent deaths, which proves that Esposito’s “anything is possible” is true. The real question, however, isn’t whether hecanreturn or not - rather, whether heshouldor not.

Moff Gideon has long since been the antagonist of The Mandalorian, which means it may be time for Din Djarin and Grogu to face a new threat.
There are plenty of advantages to seeing Moff Gideon again, and quite a few easy ways to make his return possible. For one, Esposito is absolutely incredible in the role, andThe Mandalorian & Groguwould sorely be missing his talent without him. As far as his resurrection goes,The Mandalorianseason 3 revealed that Gideon had created an entire army of Force-sensitive clones of himself, andit could very easily be explained that it was one of those clones who died in season 3. His lack of facial hair in season 3 already had audiences convinced of this.

On the other hand, Moff Gideon has long since been the antagonist ofThe Mandalorian, which means it may be time forDin Djarinand Grogu to face a new threat.Ahsokaseason 1 saw the return ofGrand Admiral Thrawn, who seeks to bring the Galactic Empire back to power, which could very well set upThe Mandalorian’s beloved pair to face a new kind of terrifying threat in their upcoming movie. Still, Esposito would always be warmly welcomed toThe Mandalorian & Groguas a beloved part of theStar Warsgalaxy.
