10“If You Wanna Stop This, Then Stand Up! Because I’ve Got One Thing to Say to You. Never Forget Who You Want to Become!”

Spoken by Shoto Todoroki

Todoroki did not always have the easiest life. He suffered abuse from both parents, stemming from his father Endeavor’s mistreatment of his mother, Rei, which caused her to break down and lash out at Todoroki. Even as he progressed into young adulthood, he carried this trauma with him, refusing to use his right/fire side and give his father the satisfaction of seeing Todoroki benefit from Endeavor’s Quirk. However, through this quote, viewers can see thatTodoroki still has hope for his future.

In spite of the unspeakable cruelty the young boy faced, he still clings to the dream of helping others and fighting for the good side. Todoroki has trained diligently to become one ofMy Hero Academia’sbest heroes, working with all his might tobuild a life he is proud of and leave his cruel father far behind him. My Hero Academia: 10 Things You Probably Didn’t Know About Shoto Todoroki

Shoto Todoroki is a pensive, quiet, albeit insanely talented U.A. student, and here are 10 things about him that My Hero Academia fans may not know.

9"It Is Fine Now. Why? Because I Am Here!"

Spoken by All Might

PerhapsAll Might’s most iconic quoteof all time is his signature exclamation, “I am here!“He typically speaks this line when he arrives on the scene of a violent villain’s attack, quickly taking down the evildoer and protecting innocent humans from any further harm. This quote reveals All Might’s sheer power and rightful confidence in himself, as he seems to be virtually unstoppable at many points in the series.

Although All Might is later revealed to possess a few weaknesses, such as only being able to use the One for All Quirk for short periods of time without becoming too physically exhausted to continue,he is still powerful in spite of these setbacks. For 40 years, he reigned as the world’s strongest hero, attracting the admiration of everyone the world over, including the protagonist, Deku, of course. Without an iconic figure like All Might, countless people would have perished at the hands of evil villains and Deku may never have discovered his dream to become a hero, proving the truly inspirational nature of All Might’s highly quotable catchphrase.

8"If All You Ever Do Is Look Down On People, You Won’t Be Able To Recognize Your Own Weaknesses.”

Spoken by Katsuki Bakugo

This Bakugo quote ishis most introspective yet, revealing an entirely new sideof his typically brash and rude personality. Bakugo beganMy Hero Academiaas Deku’s biggest bully and appeared to be nothing but an unkind teenager who found joy in tormenting others. However, cracks began to appear in his previously cocky and arrogant persona, as his true insecure nature was revealed.

Once Bakugo experienced a few sobering events, such as violent villain attacks and being kidnapped by the League of Villains, his demeanor shifted, and he became more remorseful, taking responsibility for his past mistakes and realizing his own weakness. In this quote, he asserts that his previous way of judging others harshly without showing grace was not doing him any favors. Deku was merciful enough to forgive Bakugo for his previous bullying behavior, soBakugo took that compassion andused it to inspire him to growinto a more thoughtful, empathetic hero, as well as examine his own shortcomings and work to improve. In this way, he shifted from a simple bully to one of the most inspiring and mature characters inMy Hero Academia.

My Hero Academia’s Bakugo isn’t Just Important, He’s Key to Understanding the Series' Themes

Bakugo’s redemption arc in My Hero Academia is pleasantly surprising, inspirational, and highlights an incredibly important theme in the series.

All Might is a fantastic representation of how a hero should be: strong, considerate, brave, and motivational to everyone he speaks to. This quote is just another instance of his influential advice, helping younger heroes like Deku grow into people as talented as him. In this quote, he asserts that trying your best and diving headfirst into new experiences is always valuable because, regardless of the outcome, you will learn something new.

This is crucial life advice and shows All Might’s sensible and optimistic outlook. All Might is not perfect, although Deku and many others may see him that way, but he doesn’t let his flaws hold him back. Even if he experiences failure, whether that be a lost battle or physical harm suffered, he continues to push relentlessly towards his goal of saving as many people from devastating villain attacks as possible, bouncing back from disappointments with the knowledge that at least he gained knowledge from the experience.

6"There Will Always Be People Beyond Our Reach That We Can’t Protect. Which is Why We Have to Save the People We Can Reach.”

Spoken by Izuku Midoriya

InMy Hero Academia, and in life on a larger scale,it is an unfortunate truth that one person cannot save everyone.Deku came to this upsetting realization, but did not let it break his spirit for long. He realized that it is still necessary for him to protect and rescue as many innocent people as he can, even if some lives will inevitably be lost in the process.

Deku, and all the heroes in the series, still make a monumental and noticeable difference, even if they cannot save every single person who is in danger. It is a true sign of growth that Izuku understands this uncomfortable fact of life and continues trying his best in battle anyway. He bravely throws himself into harm’s way to shield others from endangerment, even against much stronger villains like the League of Villains and All For One, that prove difficult for him to keep up with. Even knowing he might unfortunately fail to save someone at some point, he does not give up on his dream and continues to train tirelessly.

5"The Most Inflated Egos Are Often the Most Fragile."

An overinflated ego can be a true detriment, and no one realizes this more than All Might. Although he carries himself proudly as the Symbol of Peace, he possesses many insecurities deep down, fearing someone may find out that without his Quirk, he is relatively frail and weak. Another character who slips into this problem of an overblown ego is Bakugo, who put on a pretentious and cocky persona to hide his inner self-doubts, morphing into an awful bully in the process before he realized his mistake.

Both All Might and Bakugo became better, more likable, and arguably even stronger characters by recognizing the necessity of staying humble, regardless of how talented they are or how much external validation and praise they receive. This quote contains a life lesson for viewers too, showing how many people who seem to have sky-high self-esteem may be internally struggling with poor self-image and insecurities. This is bound to resonate with many people, and the series shows how even if one falls into this trap of letting overconfidence negatively affect them, like Bakugo did,it is never too late to look inward and become a better and kinder individual.

4"I Won’t Regret Anything, Now Or Ever Again! I’ll Do It, I’ll Become a Hero! I’ll Protect People!"

Spoken by Eijiro Kirishima

Kirishima, a classmate of Deku’s, has one of the most useful Quirks, entitled Sturdy Hero: Red Riot. The skill allows him to harden parts of his body to use as weapons. Although his Quirk is undoubtedly creative and powerful,Kirishima struggled with self-doubt at the beginning of his hero journey, unsure of himself or if he was deserving of the opportunity to become a hero.

However, this quote marks a turning point in the young hero’s story, where he strengthens his resolve. Kirishima did not want to watch others needlessly die or be hurt when he knew he could play a hand in preventing unnecessary bloodshed, so he did his best to abandon the uncertainty holding him back andlive up to his potential as a worthy hero. This plan certainly worked in his favor, as Kirishima has become one of U.A. High’s most physically powerful and mentally resilient recruits.

3"Sometimes I Do Feel Like I’m a Failure. Like There’s No Hope For Me. But Even So, I’m Not Gonna Give Up. Ever!"

The beginning of Deku’s story inMy Hero Academiais quite devastating, leaving viewers wondering how things could possibly improve for the aspiring young hero. Born Quirkless, it seemed as if Deku’s dreams of becoming a hero of All Might’s caliber were dashed instantly. Even once he inherited a Quirk, he still faced significant struggles, such as being bullied by Bakugo, sent to the nurse’s office with grievous injuries, and later in the series, almost killed.

One of Deku’s most striking qualities is the fact that he never even thinks about giving up, no matter what life throws at him. To find someone so passionate and dedicated to a goal that nothing can throw them off course is incredibly rare, and this characteristic caused even the Symbol of Peace, All Might, tosee the aspiring hero’s potential. This is definitelyone of Deku’s most inspirational quotesand truly humanizes him. These words reveal that no matter how mighty he becomes or how many villains he beats, he still struggles with doubt like everyone else. He pushes onward in spite of obstacles, revealing inner strength that isarguably even more valuable than his Quirk.

2"Giving Up Isn’t an Option For Me!"

Spoken by Ochako Uraraka

Uraraka is extremely motivated, bubbly, and could be namedMy Hero Academia’smost positive character. Never seen without a smile on her face, she is a human embodiment of sunshine and always offers uplifting words to everyone around her. However, she hasa motivation for becoming a hero that is a bit different from the others, setting her apart.

Although protecting others is not her driving incentive, her goal is still noble and respectable. She watched her parents deal with financial issues as she was growing up, so shehopes to earn money to support them,as they supported her in her youth. Taking care of loved ones is a truly honorable dream, and it is this hope that keeps Uraraka moving forward even when the enemies she faces seem insurmountable. Her cheerfulness and can-do attitude come through in this quote, revealing that she is so determined to achieve this objective that giving up is not even on the table for her.

1"I Know Just How Much Grudges Like That Can Cloud a Person’s Vision."

If anyone is justified in holding a grudge, it would be Shoto Todoroki. His tragic past includes being abused by his father and burnt with scalding water by his motherbecause she resented the fire side of his Quirk for its similarity to his father’s appearance. His father relentlessly scolded and insulted the boy, attempting to harden him into a resilient hero through disgusting and truly evil methods.

However, as Todoroki warned Iida in this quote, grudges ultimately only cause more harm to the person harboring them. Endeavor was very wrong for the way he treated his child anddeserves every ounce of anger and hatred Todoroki has. However, Shoto is wise enough to realize that rather than just hold a festering grudge that will hurt him deeply in the long run, it is a better use of his time to continue powering forward and working on himself to heal the damage Endeavor has done, while simultaneously helping others and becoming a true hero in the process. This development has givenTodoroki one of the best character arcsinMy Hero Academia.
